Central Okanagan Community Farms Society
Grow. Feed. Teach.
There’s something romantic about farming, and the Central Okanagan Food Policy Council wanted to get their hands dirty! The idea to have a farm where food could be grown for the community, where community members could learn about growing food and connect to the land, and place where people wanting to become farmers could try it out for themselves.
After many years of hard work, the Central Okanagan Community Farms Society was born. Since 2015, the Community Farms Society has been growing produce for donation to community organizations that support people who cannot afford to buy healthy and local food.
In 2016, they launched their Incubator Farm Program, where people wanting to learn and try farming could on 1/4 acre of land.
